The VISIT

As she stood there, watching her beautiful daughter take the marriage vows, she was reminded of the day when for the first time, she had held her little angel in her arms, of the day when her pig-tailed toddler had adorned the freshly painted living room walls with her colorful drawings, of the sweet smile that lit up the room on unwrapping the birthday gifts, of the numerous times she had made her proud and of the day she had introduced her to the man of her dreams. She was also reminded of the not so happy days- of the troublesome times that had torn her and her husband, of the days of solitude she had chosen for herself and of the dear friend, who had suggested her the VISIT.

At the same time, her daughter was thanking her stars for the wonderful life she was blessed with. She looked at her Gods-on-earth, her parents and smiled. It was their one decision that had changed her life- their decision to VISIT the orphanage and give a wailing baby home.

The bride then turned to her handsome groom- the man who had not only agreed to love her and to be by her side through all thick and thin but had also promised her that irrespective of what they'd be blessed with, they'd make a similar VISIT and gift a beautiful life to a God sent angel.

I think I have a thing for edible roses.  Last Valentine's day I learned how to make chocolate covered strawberries that look like roses and this year I learned how to make a rose out of Hershey's kisses.  I pinned this idea for strawberry roses on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try.  Unfortunately, it's one of those pins that's a dead end when you click through, but luckily there was enough information in the image to give me a basic idea of what to do.  And after making a few of these strawberry roses, I can give you a few pointers and tips that worked for me.

To create this, I made a Raspberry-Cherry sauce and then layered it with MΓΌller® Ice Cream Inspired Vanilla Bean Yogurt. The sauce was made by combining raspberries and cherries with a little bit of water, and then cooking it down to release the liquid.

This strata showcases tomatoes, zucchini, bacon, and feta. Best of all? You don’t have to prep it the night before! By using a delicate, flaky croissant, the eggs and milk soak in quickly and perfectly.

My purse all too often becomes a catch all for the junk I encounter while out of the house.
It’s just too easy to toss something in my purse and deal with it later. Unfortunately, later can sometimes take a while to roll around. Receipts, old notes, and lots of lip products usually make up most of my purse clutter, but that changed yesterday because I decluttered my purse.

One thing we can be thankful for is God’s wisdom, which in turn makes us wise when we follow him. Serving these cute wise owl cupcakes will help us remember to be thankful, and it gives kids an added lesson in wisdom as well!

Shane and I both love to go to antique stores and auctions.
Many times we are looking for something with a purpose and we enjoy the hunt.
I also enjoy the bargaining process.
We went shopping that day with the measurements wrote down that would fit the space we were shopping for.
Handy Hubby had his tape measure and we both had the vision in our heads.
We also had a price point that we would not go over.
We were searching for something to re-purpose into a coffee station.

Sewing is a timeless and highly useful skill. You can sew items for yourself, your friends, your pets, or your home. But if you’re a beginner, it may be hard to narrow down all the pattern possibilities and find a project that you’ll actually understand, and better yet, actually finish! So if you’re a total beginner or have a little more experience, check out these quick and easy sewing projects below!

Here is a delicious recipe just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Guinness Chocolate Donuts with Baileys Glaze, yes and they are delicious. What is your favorite St. Patty’s Day Recipe? Since there is nothing to do because its so cold….yes 25 below zero is just crazy. I’ve been wanting to try these so I figured why not now! Do you have a Guinness fan or Baileys lover? I’m not big on beer but these were amazing!

I’m going to admit that I’ve wanted to a do a post like this for quite some time, essentially ‘A Day in the Life’ sort of bit, and for a few reasons. First and foremost is the pure self-indulgence of the process. Second, however, is to give a small glimpse into the sites day to day for those who may be unfamiliar with the process.

As I was skimming through my photo library,
I remembered how "ab-fab" that mansion was,
so even though it's been a few months, I'm bringing it back.
I am determined to finish showing you the entire home!

Joyce Meyer is one of my favourite Bible Teachers. The way she teaches has inspired me, challenged me and encouraged me. When she shares her testimonies and the struggles she has overcome with her temper and patterns of thoughts etc, I can totally relate to her, and I'm encouraged to see how God has used her and transformed her through His word.

“They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels.” ~Malachi 3:17~
“Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name.

We went strawberry picking the day before Valentine’s Day, so I made a few jars of my grandmother’s strawberry jam. I thought it would be artsy to use Valentine crochet canning jar covers on the jars I gave as gifts. A couple of weeks ago while strolling through Hobby Lobby, I picked up a few skeins of I Love This Cotton Yarn along with two or three packages of Valentine craft ribbon and one package of Valentine heart colored buttons. I had no idea what I was going to do with the buttons, but they were just too cute to resist. I probably should have picked up more than one package.

I decided I would share this CopyCat Chick-fil-A Chicken Salad Sandwich Recipe with you today. With warmer weather on the way, sandwich recipes are a great idea for lunches and quick and easy dinners. I shared our CopyCat Starbucks Egg Salad with you as well as our CopyCat Panera Tuna Salad Sandwich. All of these sandwiches are great and will allow you to whip up a quick meal.

So today I'm excited to finally show you my Laundry room. I was contacted by Danielle at Blissful and Domestic to do a You Tube Collaboration about a space in our home that we have decorated on a budget. My laundry room definitely fits that bill, its a DIYers dream. There were several projects I did in the laundry room that not only were cheap but came out beautifully. I hope you enjoy the video tour below! Don't forget to check out the other 8 collaborators videos as well.

Colcannon is a traditional Irish dish of mashed potatoes mixed with cabbage.  This recipe combines the same flavors, but the potatoes are used to make a creamy soup and mixed with cabbage for a hearty vegetarian soup.

MEAL PLANNING FOR BUSY FAMILIES

Written Reality

Do you wish you had more time to spend with your family and less time in the kitchen?
Or does the thought of cooking after a long day make you just want to order takeout?
So many busy families struggle with getting dinner on the table every night. But dinner doesn’t have to be stressful.

Movie Review Monday

**NO SPOILERS**

The last couple of weeks required a lot of juggling between roles and responsibilities. The weekend was well-wasted and I am now on to a not-so-exciting week. With temperature going to it's lowest for the season, we were mostly house-arrest and with Bigg Boss being wrapped up, movies were the only mind-refreshing options. Boyhood, Fifty Shades of Grey, Aankhon Dekhi, Roy, Badlapur- watched all, loved none.

Having missed on reading the book, I thought of catching all the rave about Fifty Shades of Grey with the movie. What better day than the Valentine's to watch a romantic flick... ok... erotic-romantic. 2 hours later- I find nothing romantic. A very generous friend has offered to lend me her hard copies of Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy and I am gonna take the offer. I need to find atleast some romance between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, for my heart's content. The end clearly says that the makers are coming back with a sequel and I know for sure that I am not watching it.

Sweaters or Suits- This guy's stylist got it right, every time.

I started watching Boyhood with no background info. Not even the trailer. Consequently, the first 15 minutes were pretty confusing. I could barely understand the leaps in the narration. Once I got the plot, the movie got me hooked on to it. Now that is where the problem is! You get so attached to the characters that you do not want the movie to end. You want to know more about what happened next. Did Mason and Samantha ever meet their step-siblings? How did Mason's life go? Did he learn life's lessons? Though, I cannot think of a better ending, I do not approve of this one either. Is Richard Linklater working on Manhood now? Do you think Ellar Coltrane would be comfortable with the idea ;)
BOYHOOD - (7/10)
This one by Emre Unayli sums it up so well.

After watching Aankhon Dekhi grab all the big ones at Filmfare Awards, that backed by the exceptional cast and crew, there was no missing this one. Though, the movie started well, it did not go any further. The unnecessary injection of the theme, failed to keep me interested. However, I did like the end and I believe that was the best picturization of 'Aankhon Dekhi'. Close to impeccable performance by the actors and exceptional cinematography were the highlights.
AANKHON DEKHI - (6/10)
Aankhon Dekhi for me, are these actors!

The introductory track and Varun Dhawan's look in the trailer, had set the perfect stage for Badlapur. I was expecting vengeance and pain to be the keys of this movie and that was exactly what it was about. Except for the vast difference in the level of expectation and the actual. Varun Dhawan was impressive. However, when the movie ended, it felt like it was more about Nawazuddin Siddiqui than about anybody's Badla.
BADLAPUR - (6/10)
Expected this. Got this.

Meanwhile, I also attempted to watch Roy. Why I say attempted is because, I dozed off  after only 15 mins. Yes, it was that hopeless. I am usually not so brutal while writing reviews but this one gave me no reason to praise. Even Khoobsurat and Tevar looked better than Roy. No wonder Ranbir Kapoor did not waste his time on promotions.
ROY - (0/10)
Can you make out anything about the movie, after looking at this image? You won't even after watching the movie.
Save yourself the pain.

What have y'all been up to?  Do we share opinions on any of these movies?

These paper flowers, as well as sculpted blooms, were what my Etsy shop was made of.  I love making them, especially for special days like weddings, but I just couldn't keep up with demand.  Now I only make special order bouquets, boutonnieres and gifts.

Hey guys who is ready for another easy fabulous Valentine’s recipe for the last week of our Valentine’s Series?
At this time in my life Valentine’s is a little different, instead of a romantic candle lit dinner for two, we now have a dinner for three with heart shaped pizza and little Valentine’s sealed with lego stickers.  We don’t mind it one bit, I still get my get chocolates and roses so I’m happy lol!

Crafting is a favorite family activity in our house. Boys, girls, kids, adults…crafting is fun for everyone! One of the crafts that our whole family has been enjoying recently is handprint crafts. They are easy, fun, and inexpensive. There are so many different ways to do handprint crafts that boys will love. This collection includes an alligator, a pirate, a lobster, an elephant, a duck, a chicken, leaves, a lion, an octopus, a monkey, a whale, a dinosaur, a penguin, fire fighters, and Frankenstein!

We spend hundreds of dollars a year on special lotions and creams to make our skin look and feel better, but how about making something at home for a fraction of the cost that is even better for you?  This Easy Homemade Body Butter is a great way to quench your thirsty skin as well as an excellent gift item to give for Mother’s Day, Teachers Appreciation Gifts or just because!

How to Make a Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

Have you seen those nifty mason jar soap dispensers in gift shops and boutiques? It’s true you can buy your own, but the cost of one may not be in your budget. The good news is, you can make your own mason jar soap dispenser in less than 30 minutes and for 1/4 of the cost. Here is how you can get started making your own mason jar soap dispenser, perfect for bathrooms and kitchens.

I made these pot pies for a special occasion dinner party, and they were a hit with kids and adults alike. Hot-out-of-the-oven little pies, filled with hearty, savory filling and surrounded by crisp, flaky crust...what could be better on a cold evening? The individual crusts take a few extra minutes to prepare, but the results are worth it.

Grow Your Own Bean Sprouts in Just a Few Days

How to Sew a Ruffle pillow with Ruffle Fabric

I have had a couple requests lately to make some ruffle pillows.  The one pictured above is a standard size pillow sham.  I used 1 inch ruffle fabric.

Organised Baking Station!

If you are like me and love to bake...then having everything you need at arm's reach is the way to go. Baking tins, muffin pans, graters, measuring cups, bowls of different sizes and a array of different utensils, can be tricky to store and especially, to find.
If you have a second drawer like mine then searching for that little lemon zester can be a pain, especially when it always underneath everything else.
So I decided to get organised (DIY on a budget) and put all my baking needs in one spot.I had an old Ikea Expedit bookcase that was collecting dust and wasn't really being put to good use.
It needed an overhaul!

Makeup Monday - Discontinued Makeup

From the time I awoke that morning, I knew my focus was off. The ‘Liar’s Committee’ in my head was reminding me of past hurts, little perceived snubs, the mundane routine, fewer dates, that particular warmth that was missing, and it overwhelmed anything good that was out there. I had doubts about my salvation (how could I really feel these things if I loved Jesus?), doubts about my marriage relationship, doubts about my parenting, missing my mother…doubts, doubts, doubts.

I love jalapenos, and I am constantly pushing them on my friends.  So many people are scared to try these delicious little peppers because of their ( well deserved) reputation.  The thing is, its the seeds that hold most of the heat, and if you prepare them right, jalapenos can be downright mild.
Just don’t eat a seed, even on a dare.

Spring is just around the corner, but we still have quite a few cold and damp days left. The kind of days where you want a nice bowl of soup and this cheeseburger soup is a perfect hearty comfort food that will warm you to your toes.
This soup really only takes a few minutes to throw together and only about 20 minutes to cook once it is boiling. It’s really a very easy quick soup recipe as long as you already have all the ingredients on hand!

Straw Painted Rainbow Craft

The Keeper of the Cheerios

Materials: Canvas, Straw, liquid watercolor or really watered down paint (watercolor, tempera or acrylic), Glue, cotton balls or pom poms, and gems or gold paint.

Weekends at our house are filled with athletic activities. If it isn’t an all-day volleyball tournament, we love to hike and ski, and I’ve even been persuaded to do a few mountain biking excursions. These energy balls provide both quick energy from the carbs and sustaining energy from the protein.Might I add –  they taste a heck of a lot better than anything you buy at the store!

If you are looking for a simple and delicious Valentine’s dessert recipe that looks like you put a lot of effort into it these mini chocolate lava cakes are just what you want.

We are getting ready to hit the road on another trip, and I’m facing the dilemma of keeping the kids occupied without having to tow a trailer of all their “stuff” with us. One of the things I know will keep my girls occupied for hours is coloring. They can color all day long, however, I do not have the best track record of traveling with crayons. Either they end up broken at the bottom of my purse, or I end up toting a large plastic container of some kind, yes, the crayons are safe and intact but I look like a crazy person pulling a gallon sized container out of my purse at a restaurant.
